Fasting Hotel Workers Raging

Well a whopping 10 Disney Hotel Workers begin their fast and camp in at the Disneyland Resort Hotels tomorrow (good idea to wait until after the Super Bowl since most people gorge themselves with food on that day anyway and can probably afford to drop a pound or two). According to the Orange Counter Register Around Disney blog, various protest activities are scheduled throughout the week including "A Day of Music" on Saturday featuring Rage Against the Machine / Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello. Now that should be an interesting juxtaposition of folks milling around the DLR on Saturday - Rage fans vs. Park fans. Disney wanted to give Mickey a less corporate and more mischievous makeover this year. I believe that wish is going to come true this week at the Resort.

I repeat an earlier statement. This country was built on freedoms including free speech but if I'm shelling out 3 or 4 hundred a night at the Grand Californian and my stay is lessoned because the presence of police, protesters, etc., I'm ticked. "I need to speak with a hotel manager immediately". Wish I had a dollar for every time that statement gets spoken in the next week.

I guess it would have been a stretch to get all of Local 11 to join in the fasting. But how cool would it be to camp at the Disneyland Resort?

Funny.....even with a Rage Against the Machine guitarist....nobody other than the strikers really seemed to care. Get to the bargaining table now.....
