Our good friend Robert Ashburn of FloridaThrills.net has provided us with yet another photo update from the Walt Disney World Resort, so let’s take a look at what’s new and exciting: It’s going to be a busy day….

5/15/10 UPDATE – WDI and WDW have stated that they are not adding characters to the attraction at this time. The classic Magic Kingdom attraction “it’s a small world” is now listed on the Walt Disney World website as closed for refurbishment from August 1st through October 22nd, 2010. While we have no idea what could be part of this refurbishment, it is really strange to see an attraction that just received an extensive overhaul 5 years ago closing for an extended period of time. Is it possible that some Disney characters might be added to a few scenes of the attraction, much like they appear at Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland? We’ll just have to wait and see. Stay [...]

According to park schedules released by Disney, “The Main Street Electrical Parade” and the “Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Spectacular” should be debuting early. The parade and fireworks are set to begin one night earlier than expected on Saturday, June 5th, with Electrical Parade at 9PM and the Fireworks Spectacular at 10PM. For those who wish to catch Spectromagic and Wishes! one more time before they “glow” away for the Summer, you can see them on June 4th at 9PM and 10PM respectively. A strange note: the only night of “Summer Nightastic!” that is not scheduled to feature a Main Street Electrical Parade performance is Wednesday, June 9th. Whether you approach The Magic Kingdom by monorail, boat, bus, or on foot, the sight of the train station and what waits just beyond it always brings a smile to even the most seasoned of park travelers. Since there have been a few minor news stories in last week that have gone without posting, I figured we should just share all of them in one giant post: Night of Joy moves back to the Magic Kingdom this year: Past Christian music “Artists of the Year” Third Day, mercyme and Chris Tomlin and 2010 “Artist of the Year” nominees Casting Crowns and Francesca Battistelli head a star-powered 15-act lineup set for Disney’s Night of Joy 2010 Sept. 10-11 when the long-running Christian music event makes its return to Magic Kingdom.
