Wonders of Life Now "Future World Event Center"
The Wonders of Life was finally removed from seasonal activity on DisneyWorld.com, but the reason will only be for it’s demise. From February 1, 2008 forward, the pavilion will no longer be officially referred to as the Wonders of Life. In addition, control of the pavilion has been handed over to Walt Disney World Special Events. During the 2008 Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, the following events will now take place in the pavilion: March 19 & 20: Roger Swain, “Gardening Bright From the Start” – Host of PBS’ ‘The Victory Garden’ kicks off the Festival with March 21 – 23: Joe Lamp’l (joe the gardener) , Green Gardening – Environment friendly tips for today’s gardener March 28 – 30: Ellen [...]
Wonders of Death
I have been receiving a lot of emails lately about the Wonders of Life pavilion at Epcot. Many readers have brought to my attention that it is no longer listed as a closed attraction after January 31, 2008. Let me sadly state that the reason for this is that the attractions inside the pavilion will be gutted over the next few months. The pavilion may once again open as a home to events for the Food and Wine Festival in 2008, but the attractions inside will be gone by then. The pavilion has been in seasonal operation for years now and the attractions haven’t seen use since the 2006 Holiday Season. Walt Disney Imagineering has a few ideas on the table for the [...]
More Than A Refurbishment
It has just been announced that both Journey Into Imagination with Figment and Imageworks at Epcot will be closed from January 28 to February 24. While some minor refurbishing will be done, there will also be testing of some new effects for a BIG planned refurbishment of the attraction in the coming year. Stay tuned to WDW News Today as more information becomes available on this in the coming weeks.
Break The Walls Down
The walls surrounding Spaceship Earth at Epcot have finally come down and the attraction is officially open to the public, despite multiple signs noting the official opening still as February 2008.
It's Done!
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Epcot’s iconic white sphere, Spaceship Earth, closed for nearly six months, will reopen to the public Friday with a new story line and digital enhancements. The show’s producer Bob Zalk says the new story is about innovations and how they inspire the next generation. The ride features new show scenes, lighting effects and costumes with a new musical score narrated by Judy Dench. The ride’s vehicles remain the same, but include new touch screens. There will also be an interactive component. Disney officials expect to make minor changes before the ride’s formal reopening in February.
New Project Tomorrow Game
AÂ brand new game has opened in the Spaceship Earth Project Tomorrow post show area at Epcot. Power Cities is now open in the area and requires guests to do a lot of physical labor. We will have more on this as it becomes available.Â
A Look At Tokyo Dining
Here is a look at the interior and some food choices available at Tokyo Dining, a table service dining location in the Japan pavilion at Epcot. The new location opened along with Teppan Edo in October. These pictures are provided by our good friend Adam Roth of wdwcelebrations.com. Enjoy!
Finally, Some Imagination
In what will probably be the first of many, a permit has been filed to refurbish and change the post show area of the Imagination pavillion at Epcot. This will most likely be the first step in revamping the pavillion, which as spent almost a decade in dismay. These plans have been sitting around for a while, but it appears that the conclusion of work on Spaceship Earth has finally opened the door for this project. This particular permit can be found HERE. Discuss this developement HERE.
SSE Spoilers
Here is a Spaceship Earth report from www.themeparkave.com: I got an Instant Message from a friend at 8:30 tonight saying that SSE was open. I jumped into my car and sped over to Epcot. The wall wasn’t down but they had a portion of it opened to allow guests in. - The signs going in are brand spanking new, and they change colors. - The vehicles now have screens on them. - Going up it looks brand new. No crappy projections on the left side anymore. Near the top of the lift your screen will point you in the direction of a camera and tell you to show your face and smile. You’ll see yourself on the screen next to [...]
