WDW Rumors

-The Jungle Cruise will not see any refurbishment until the motion picture is released a few years down the road. -The interactive Kim Possible game is set to return to Epcot in early 2008. -The Wonders of Life pavillion is set for demolition in the summer of 2008. -The refurb of the Imagination attraction at Epcot will be the park’s next project following the re-opening of Spaceship Earth. -Toy Story Mania’s many problems during development appear to have been fixed. The attraction now has an opening time frame from May-July of 2008. -Animal Kingdom will be getting a new parade in 2008, however, it remains a mystery if it will be a day or night parade.

Concourse Steakhouse Closure

The Concourse Steakhouse on the Grand Canyon Concourse of Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be closed Permanently on May 11th, 2008. It is unclear at this time if the new restaurant called ‘The Wave” will be open by then. We will keep you up to date on this as more becomes available.

Contemporary Press Release

The following is from the Orlando Sentinel, take a short read through of this interesting bit on the new dining location coming to the Contemporary Resort: ” While Walt Disney World continues rehab work on the 36-year-old Contemporary Resort, the company has also submitted paperwork to construct a new restaurant inside the hotel. Called “The Wave,” the new restaurant will be built into the north end of the Contemporary’s main tower. It will become the hotel’s third full-service restaurant. A Disney spokesman said the theme will be trendy, and The Wave will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, and will feature a bar. It should open by next spring or summer.”

Contemporary Progress

The new shop on the Grand Canyon Concourse of the Contemporary Resort is almost completed. The only work left is really the construction of shelve structures and registers for the store. Outside the resort, work is really picking up on the new north wing of the Contemporary. The foundation and first level are completed, with work expected to continue through the Summer of 2009. The new wing should be fully prepared for the 2009 holiday season. Here are some pictures of the discussed progress, provided by Denise at Mousesteps.com:

Look Who We Have Our Hanes On Now

The Hanes company recently signed a deal with Disney to produce all of the clothing sold for Disney Parks. The special agreement also makes Hanes the sponsor of the Rock N’ Roller Coaster Attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and give the Hanes division, Champion, naming and sponsorship rights to Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. The main reason for the deal is to raise clothing merchandise sales at Disney Parks.

T-Rex Press Release

The following is a small article from the Orlando Sentinel on the new T-Rex Restaurant coming to Downtown Disney next summer. Two life-size dinosaurs will grace the outside and dozens more robotic dinosaurs will decorate the interior of the T-Rex restaurant and store under construction at Downtown Disney. The restaurant, slated to open next fall in Downtown Disney’s Marketplace section, will be the second in a new chain designed by Steven Schussler, who created Rainforest Cafe, and developed in partnership with Landry’s Restaurants. Walt Disney World released their schedule of events and park hours for December 31st, 2007. Here is the press release:Walt Disney World guests can count down to 2008 with a dazzling display of entertainment, parades, fireworks and extended hours throughout the Disney theme parks on New Year’s Eve. T-Rex Restaurant News

The T-Rex Restaurant at Downtown Disney is opening Summer 2008, according to the construction walls surrounding the site. Even if the restaurant opens by the end of the summer, that only gives them 10 months to complete the new restaurant. This would probably make the people involved in the construction of the new Yak and Yeti restaurant at Animal Kingdom look bad, as they are once again struggling to meet their second opening date.
