“Watch Out For That Tree!” – Falling Limbs Mean Safety Nets at Animal Kingdom

When pieces of the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom fell to the ground a few weeks ago, it forced the closure of “It’s Tough to be a Bug” and the paths around the park icon. For the most part, you still can not walk the paths around the Tree of Life, but above those that you can explore, you’ll find these wood structures with nets. Many more of these structures are going up around the various paths, but until they are complete, these paths will remain closed.

You can still get some good photos of the Tree of Life

More canopies under construction

Does it ruin the area? I’m really not sure, but it has a distinct feel of Jurassic Park for some reason…

What do you think? Is this a good fix or should Disney just close the Tree of Life area and attempt to fix the problem?

This is a decent temporary fix.  I think once the maintence/construction crews are finished with other previously started projects that they should work on a permanent fix, even if it includes temporarily closing the icon.

This will mean our photos of the tree may well be “nothing but net” until it is removed. I think it should stay just until they check to see what else may be loose and then remove the net maybe just leaving the poles in place for the next maintenance period. Regular preventative maintenance can be done from here on as it is on the rest of the property.

Aside from the visual obstructions, the poles fit in fairly well thematically – but nevertheless, I would guess that these are temporary structures.

I thinks it’s alright. Better safe than sorry…

They need to fix the tree

I don’t think people will respond to this change well. I think the fix is alright, at least it matches the theme, but hopefully it’s only temporary.

It’s a good temp fix and in the future having pictures of visits during this time will be unique.  The permanent fix should be designed and tested before closing the attraction to make the corrections.

On our recent trip we thought the nets were very disruptive.  Not only was it hard to see the carving on the tree but it seemed that the netting also blocked the air movement around the tree making it warmer than normal.  I hope that this is just a temporary fix and that we will be able to enjoy the beauty of The Tree of Life again… soon!
