Disney Releases New Concept Art & Details for Test Track

The new logo for Test Track presented by Chevrolet

As you can see. they are changing the entire ride completely. The first image is clearly the hill climb. The top right looks to be the first break-test zone. The lower two pictures look like replacements for the environmental chambers.

Ride icons? I assume these are categories you will be graded in after designing your vehicle.

Yep, the Test Track you once knew is gone…

If you look closely at tis image, you can see plenty of concept art for the Chevrolet Design Studio, where guests will design their SimCars

Disney also released some new details:

When complete, the reimagining of this attraction will allow guests to design their own custom concept vehicle, and then put it through its paces on the exhilarating hills and switchbacks of the Test Track circuit. In the post-show, guests can make a TV commercial featuring their concept car or truck, race their car or truck on our virtual track and take a picture with their custom concept vehicle.

So, it looks like Test Track will be very different when it opens (tentatively set for December 1)… so what do you think of this new look?

At first I didn’t see the need to update Test Track when there are other parts of WDW that need attention. I was a huge fan of the original ride, and initially was sad that most of that would disappear. Until I gave it some serious thought. This new Test Track is EXACTLY what Future World needs to become Future World again. This is going to be an attraction that will constantly challenge your mind for what the future of transportation will have in store like World of Motion did in the 80′s. This attraction seems like it has a high level of rewrite-ability, and looks very Tron like and futuristic. When this opens it will be the face of a new Epcot, and I cant wait! Look for WDI to plus up some of the other Future World pavilions into a 21st century look too. The Future for Future world is bright.

Loving the Tron aesthetic.  I’ve wanted a ride themed to the films, but if they follow through with this I’ll be happy.

Now THIS looks like it belongs in Epcot.

    this is awesome!

I hate it. It might as well be called Tron Track. Test Track is a classic attraction and is good how it is. Other parks could use more rides/attractions so I really don’t see the point of spending all that money to remodel an already great attraction

    I totally agree

    Very “TRON”esqe

The priority as to what gets fixed/refurb’d probably depends on who is helping to foot the bill and what they want. I;m sure the rest of Epcot would get the same TLC if they could russle up some more money from sponsors.

Personally, I think it looks great. Sure, it’s not the much needed Imagination overhaul, but again — that’ll probably only come if and when Disney doesn’t have to foot the bill themselves.
